Richard Nunekpeku
VP, Legal & Strategy, Ghana Fintech & Payment Association
Richard Nunekpeku is the Vice President – Legal & Strategy for the Ghana Fintech and Payment Association (GFPA), an association of all Fintech ecosystem players in Ghana. He is also the Managing Partner of Sustineri Attorneys PRUC – a boutique law firm specializing in business and transactional legal services, particularly for Startups and Fintech Companies.
Equally, he devotes his time to matters concerning Entrepreneurship and Youth development across Africa, facilitating training and mentorship programs for young entrepreneurs and sharing his experience as an entrepreneur on programs such as the Kosmos Innovation Centre (KIC) AgriTech Challenge, Total Energies Startupper Challenge, NextGen Incubator Program and the Tony Elumelu Foundation among others.
Richard is a qualified legal practitioner in Ghana and a product of the Ghana School of Law School, an LLB degree holder from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), an MBA holder from the University of Ghana Business School and holds a Certificate in Fintech and Regulatory Innovation from the Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance, Cambridge Judge Business School.
Richard spends his time advocating for the use of law to promote Small Scale Enterprises (SMEs) and has passionately used credible platforms including the America Bar Association International Law Session’s Pan Africa Forum and the Ghana Economic Forum organized by the Business and Financial Times (B&FT) among others to push this agenda.
As an entrepreneur, he prides himself as an award winner of the Agriculture Man of the Year, 2019 by EMY Africa. He has also been recognized by notable institutions such as the US Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), the Youth Enterprise Support (YES), now NEIP Ghana, and Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurial Foundation.
Since completing his first degree from the University of Ghana, Legon, he has held several roles in multi-national companies like Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited and PZ Cussons. He has also led high-performing teams to achieve great results in Sub-Sahara Africa working for world-class brands like Haier Thermocool and Samsung as a Marketing Executive.
He writes for the START COLUMN; a column in the Business and Financial Times Newspaper in Ghana, which seeks to demonstrate the intersection of law and business in ordinary and plain language.
His vision is to provide legal services that will be useful to business managers and owners in their quest to promote sustainable and compliant business operations across Africa.
