Ravi Reddy

CEO, South African National Blood Service

Ravi Reddy is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of South African National Blood Service (SANBS) and has worked for the Blood Transfusion Services in South Africa for 40 years. His main role is to lead the executive committee in executing the strategy to collect, process, test and issue 964 000 units of whole blood annually.

He is a Medical Technologist and has a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Technology. He has served on the Board of the International Society for Blood Transfusion (ISBT) for 10 years and as President of ISBT from 2016 to 2018. Ravi has also served on the Board of the African Society for Blood Transfusion for 8 years and has been a member of the WHO Expert Committee on Biological Standardisation.

He is author/co-author of over 40 scientific publications in international journals and has presented numerous posters and papers at International and National Congresses.  He has also provided technical assistance and support related to blood safety to a number of African countries.
