Maggie Munsamy

NHI: Technical Specialist, Head: CCMDD, National Department of Health

Maggie Munsamy is a professional health specialist with over 30 years of experience in the health sector, holding various portfolios in both the public and private sectors. She holds a Master’s in Business Leadership and has presented on numerous publications at both local and international platforms.
Currently, Maggie serves as the National Health Insurance Technical Specialist, Contracting, and the Head of Central Chronic Medicines Dispensing and Distribution (CCMDD). CCMDD, also known as DABLAP MEDS, provides alternative access to chronic medicines and is fondly referred to as the shortcut to your chronic medication.
Under her leadership, CCMDD won the South African Public Sector Innovator of the Year award in 2021. Extending its impact beyond South Africa, CCMDD received the Bronze award from the African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) in 2022. Additionally, Maggie’s work was recognized with the Most Outstanding Poster award for Health and Medicines Information System in Seville, Spain, in 2023.
