Availability Awareness Growing in South Africa Among Always-On Enterprises

South Africa; 12 December 2016 – Veeam® Software, the innovative provider of solutions that deliver Availability for the Always-On Enterprise™, recently held its V Club event for customers in Fourways, Johannesburg to discuss the migration to the always-on enterprise.

"The shift to the always-on enterprise in South Africa has been significant this year. Decision-makers have seen the importance that data availability can have on their competitiveness and want to capitalise on this," says Claude Schuck, regional manager for Africa at Veeam.

Much of the emphasis has been on making the most from IT investments in server virtualisation and storage in the cloud. This is especially the case when it comes to larger enterprises who have spent heavily on legacy systems over the years and do not want to lose that in the migration to the cloud.

As such, South African companies are embarking on a hybrid cloud migration that balances their existing technology investments with more virtualised ones.

"With data being one of the most critical components of the digital age, no company can afford not to provide its stakeholders with immediate access to relevant information wherever they are, irrespective of the device used," he says.

Uptime has become essential to ensure the business continues to meet the needs of its customers. Without availability and access to data, users will simply move to the competitor.

"While the cloud presents numerous opportunities, companies do not want to lose the investments they have made on existing systems. This is resulting in growth of the hybrid cloud that combines the best of both worlds," says Gert Prinsloo, infrastructure manager at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), one of the panellists at the event.

Scott Orton, sales director at Triple4 and another panellist in attendance, says "one of the driving forces behind ensuring data is available and protected is compliance. South African businesses need to ensure that their providers meet with all regulatory demands."

Insights shared at the Veeam V Club customer event confirm that availability awareness is growing in South Africa as decision-makers realise that this gives them a competitive advantage.
