Wayne Janneker is a seasoned technology executive and CEO of Afritech, managing the AI-Apps brand, with over two decades of experience driving digital transformation across healthcare, telecommunications, research, and the broader public and private sectors. His work sits at the intersection of healthcare innovation, data strategy, and enterprise technology, with a consistent focus on translating complex strategy into scalable, high-impact solutions.

He has held key leadership roles including Chief Technology Officer at the African Clinical Research Network (ACRN), Executive for Healthcare at Telkom BCX, and Chief Information Officer at CAPRISA. Across these roles, he has led national and enterprise-level initiatives spanning clinical systems, data platforms, and digital health ecosystems supporting both operational delivery and long-term healthcare system strengthening. His advisory contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic further reflect his ability to align technology with public health priorities at scale.

Wayne is a recognised thought leader in healthcare technology and ethical AI, and a published author in the South African Medical Journal, where his work on “The Role of AI in Transforming Healthcare in South Africa” examines the strategic role of AI in improving healthcare outcomes. He serves on the South African Medical Association, where his focus is on responsible AI adoption—ensuring patient rights, addressing data bias, and positioning AI as a tool to augment clinical decision-making rather than replace it.

At Afritech, he leads the development of Africa-focused digital platforms across Health Care, HRMS, grant management, e-submissions, monitoring and evaluation, and livestock traceability.
